Formed in 2008 as a part of the Green Machine Ensembles umbrella, the George Mason University Winter Guard is an Independent Open winter guard that competes in the Atlantic Indoor Association (AIA) and Winter Guard International (WGI) circuits. The GMU Winter Guard membership consists of Mason students, students from other colleges and universities across the country, and performers who are not currently enrolled at a school!

The staff of the GMU Winter Guard work hard to bring their years of expertise in the guard world to each season's show to not only create meaningful, powerful and visually stunning presentations, but to also foster a rich and rewarding environment for the performing members. The members receive challenging yet enriching instruction and form strong, lifelong bonds with their fellow performers as well as their instructors.
